How do I know this is safe?
Melem's main ingredients, lanolin,
castor oil, beeswax, and petrolatum are time tested and proven
in their effectiveness.
What's in Melem?
We list all ingredients on the package and in the package inserts.
Melem's ingredients include petrolatum, liquid paraffin, glyceryl
staerate, lanolin, beeswax, staeric acid, castor oil, fragrance,
alpha-isomethyl ionone . It does not contain preservatives, silicone,
corticosteroids, antibiotics, antihistamines, or UV (SPF) protection.
What if I have an adverse reaction to Staeric Acid or Lanolin?
Some people with highly sensitive skin can experience a reaction
to the staeric acid and Lanolin in Melem. In these cases we recommend
that the person switch to some unmedicated product such as petroleum
jelly. In all cases, it is always a good idea to consult your
physician prior to using Melem.
I am using a prescription product for my skin problem but I also want to use Melem. Can I use both at the same time?
When using a prescription product, always check with your doctor
or dermatologist who prescribed the product and ask how it will
interact with other products you might use.
What sizes does Melem come in?
Melem comes in 1/4 ounce (7.5g) jars and a larger 1 ounce (30g) jars. Each jar lasts a long time if directions are followed and Melem is applied in a thin layer.
Does Melem protect your lips from the sun?
Melem is a great application post sun exposure for reducing the
side effects of sunburn. As the matter of a fact, the FDA suggests
that moisturizers such as petrolatum can help relieve the dryness
when burned skin begins to peel. It does not contain SPF or sunscreen
and will not actively protect you from the direct effects of the
sun.
Does Melem test its products on animals?
No. We never have nor ever will test our products on animals. All testing is by means of chemical analysis.
Is Melem popular?
Melem's international success is what has brought the product
to the United States. Known as Zagrebacka Melem in Croatia, the
product has won many national awards and even won the Gold Medal
at IPEX in Pittsburg in a recent show. It has been in use in Croatia
since 1977. In Croatia, the large size is sold as A-1 Melem and
the small one is sold as Mini-Melem, both prefixed by Zagrebacka.
While Melem has been imported to the US for several years to serve
the Croatian ethnic community living in North America, it was
not introduced to the U.S. general public or placed on retail
shelves in non-ethnic oriented supermarkets and shops until late
2003.
